If were going to trade up anywhere, Id want it to be in the second round, to score some of the better players that will be gone by the time we get there....Jackson in particular if we go OT in the first....DE is so shallow this year, the run on them towards the end of the first will be quick. I honestly expect Groves and Jackson to go late first or very early second.

I agree with that strategy but I see a possible opportunity to take advantage of teams who really want to trade down. I do not see anyone who is itching to trade down from the end of the first round.

If we moved up and Gholston or Ellis (by giving up one third round pick) we could still nab a guy for the OL in the second. Carl Nicks looks like a guy we could get at 43.

Sure. And I would be ok if we only gave up a third to be able to get an Ellis....or even a Gholston.

I'll just throw this out there because it's out there and we sure seem to like the Jets as dance partners.

(KFFL) Jets | Team could look to trade down in draft
    Thu, 10 Apr 2008 18:00:10 -0700

Rich Cimini, of the New York Daily News, reports the New York Jets could look to trade down in the 2008 NFL Draft. The Jets currently hold the No. 6 overall pick in the draft. The team could look to trade down to between No. 7 and No. 15 overall. They have discussed a trade with at least one team in that range.

If Clady makes it past KC (1 pick before the Jets) it would cost us a #13, 67,74 for #6 and #171 (6th) to move up to land Clady.

I wouldn't do it, if Clady falls past KC then Otah will almost surely fall to us. as well as their being other viable options.

I would not give them that much to move up. I would want to keep one of the third rounders. If we got up to 6 I would not want to use it on Clady. We could stay at 13 and get Williams who is almost as good. At 6 I would want Ellis or Gholston.

Me too. If we traded up and picked Clady, I'd blow a gasket.

However, if we traded up and picked up a Sedrick Ellis, I'd love it. That's worth the trade off, IMO.

Only guy ( right now ) I see us trading up for is Ryan, and I don't really see us doing that.

That'd be nutty as hell, though.
