Normally I would not want to see us move up in the draft because the value is just not usually there. This year it seems that a lot of the teams picking high want to trade down. It may cost less to move up this year than it has in the past. If we could move up (for less than market value) to get Gholston, Ellis or McFadden would you do it?

I don't think I would risk the whole draft on a guy. I might use a third to move up to get Clady if he was dropping far enough. I think at this point I would use those thirds to get an extra 2nd or our thirds and a 2nd to get two high end players in the first.

problem is we might have to use that 3rd to move up for Williams instead. Folks might want to look at the rosters of those teams drafting ahead of us.

I am happy with either Clady, Williams or Harvey and I feel sure at least one of them will be there at 13. It is just that if someone in the top ten wants to move down to 13 in exchange for one of our third rounders then I would have to think hard about doing it.

I would not move up for an OT though. The ones available to us now are as good as the ones we could trade up for. I would want to get an impact player. As much as I talk about not needing a running back in the first round, McFadden could be a difference maker. Gholston or Ellis would make a big impact on the defense as well.

I might be more tempted to package one of our thirds with our second to move up for Gosder Cherilus or a slipping Jeff Otah, assuming we take DE Derrick Harvey in round one.

I dont see a need to draft up. Not with the talent available around the #13 spot considering our needs.

Harvey, Merling, Clady, Williams, Mendelhaal, Stewart, Phillips. Its more likely we trade down in 1 and back up in 2 if a few of these are still on the boards come the 13th pick.

Maybe if one of the Longs or Dorsey fell I could see it.

For those three, namely the DL, yes. McFadden would be intriguing as hell.

But only for a little trade off.

This year, with the talent that will be available to us at 13, (Williams and Harvey more than likely) I just dont see the need. Still think both those guys might be better than some going before them. It'd be tough to justify giving up picks though, to get a RB, when the line needs are so great. It'd be worth a look.

I would love to trade up from our second round pick to the end of the first but that is not something teams seem to want to do. Lots of teams seem to want to trade down from their high picks. If one of them is really desperate to do that then they might make us a very good deal. I would give up one of our third rounders to move up high enough to get Ellis or Gholston.
