13 - Branden Albert (LT): the best guard in the draft has the ability and potential to become the best LT in the draft

Package 43 and 67 for the 27th pick:

    27 - Kentwan Balmer(DT): Jenkins heir apparent

74 - DaJuan Morgan (FS): Needed

109 - Kendall Langford (DE): Size, motor, athleticism...small school guy who should be a beast

145 - Arman Shileds (WR): Fast, good size and highly productive in school

anywhere I lay my head I'm gonna call my home
I'm not a fan of trades with these. Especially since the trades generally fit the steal-value players rather than anything else.

I also have no fucking idea why people keep putting Albert top 15. Top 25 is about as good as a guard should realistically go.

    13. Derrick Harvey, DE
Sucks to see Williams gone, so it's Harvey or Otah. I have Harvey rated higher, similar need, and with both Otah and Cherilus obviously still on the board I'd feel solid that there'd be a decent OT in 2, though I wouldn't expect either. Harvey's that right end of impact that we really need, though now the house is a bit more crowded.

    43. Carl Nicks, OG/OT
Nicks fits the new, beefier ideal - he can play G or RT, and he's athletic enough to be top 50. Being versatile never hurts with this bunch. I don't like Sam Baker as much as Nicks right now, but I think Baker's a solid choice too.

Sucks to see Laws, Groves, and a dropping Phillips go ahead of us, but not unexpected. had my 13 pick not been an end, I'd be hoping for Lawrence Jackson or Calais Campbell. Jackson made it to 43, and I think he still will.

    67. Dre Moore, DT
An ideal fit, I can't see us not getting a DT in the third at 67 or 74 unless we've already gotten one (and given what we need as starting level talent, I have a hard time seeing it before then).
Between 43 and here, I'd have hoped for Matt Forte to fall, and would've expected he or Kevin Smith to be there, but neither were.

    74. Tashard Choice, RB
Choice is a guy I've picked more than once now - I like him, he seems like the capable, do-everything type RB a la AJ, a la Goings (though without the fullback part). To get him, because of relative need, I have to pass up two excellent value safeties, Morgan and Decoud, and if I already had RB taken care of, there are some good rush ends available here.

So, I can say that putting off RB was a bad-value choice, but at no point before this did a backup RB make any sense to me. Forte at 43?

    109. Frank Okam, DT
A bigger body, which isn't what I'm after. What I see - a DT that has strength, mobility, that works well in a rotation. He's strong which is nice, and I think we can work on his leverage.
Demps would be enticing, but I see us working the youth we have. Rucker would be nice as well.

    145. Craig Stevens, TE
Good blocker with a little speed

    To the right
13 - Derrick Harvey DE - boosts the pass rush and serves as Peppers insurance
43 - Carl Nicks OT - huge guy with lots of potential.
67 - Dre Moore DT - we need depth and an eventual Kemo replacement
74 - Thomas Decoud S - could be a starter will help on special teams
109 - Roy Schuening OG - we have a lot of guards but not much quality
145 - Cory Boyd RB - depth behind DW and Toefield.

    13. Jeff Otah - OT - In a scenario that def. could happen, Clady and Williams are both gone. Williams would have been the pick but I'm coming around on Otah after watching some stuff. He has better feet than you would think.

    43. Pat Sims - DT - We need some more production from the DT position with Jenkins gone. Was hoping him and Lawrence Jackson would be there and they were, but went with the big DT.

    67. Jason Jones - DE - I've been targeting a RB here but lots of them are gone. Jones is from a smaller school but had good production there and good work out numbers. Did pretty well at the senior bowl as well.

    74. Dajuan Morgan - S - Had to go with the safety. Its hard to put off RB this far, but couldn't pass up the talented safety. I would have gone Tashard Choice most likely. Also like Mike Hart and Steve Slaton but this is too early for those guys. Although Slaton was rated higher. This is the one draft where I haven't been praying for a safety but the board fell nicely.

    109. Thomas Brown - RB - Sleeper pick for RB. From the couple games I've seen and a few highlight videos this guy has talent. I was hoping for Forsett at this pick but he was gone, but I think Brown is an easy pick to swallow here. Brandon Flowers the CB from VT was available surprisingly and he would have been the pick execpt for the glaring need at RB.

    145. Simeon Castille - DB - It was a toss up between him and Bruce Davis the rush end from UCLA. Davis is a little small and looked at as a 3-4 OLB. But a 5th rounder for a situational rusher is good value, but having taken Jason Jones earlier I went with the DB. Castille has that felxibility and is a bit of a tweener CB/S. But it gives us more depth going ahead. Not sure what will happen with Gamble and Lucas.

Like safety for us last year the board didn't fall to us perfectly. Would have preferred to take a RB earlier, but they were all gone. All the picks fill a need save for maybe the last one.

Albert is being billed as a top 15 pick because more and more people expect him to play tackle at the next level. LT at that. I think he'd be a stud OG, but lots of peeps see him as a LT.

    43 - *Chilio Rachal OG 6-5, 315 USC
    67 - *Steve Slaton RB 5-9, 200 West Virginia
    74 - Red Bryant DT 6-5, 320 Texas A&M

OR Martin Rucker TE 6-5, 255 Missouri
    145 - King Dunlap OT 6-9, 310 Auburn

I'd like to get Chad Rinehart OG 6-5, 320 Northern Iowa in the late rounds if he's available.

Are all you guys going on the assumption Clady and Williams will be gone by 13? If one of them are there is Harvey still the pick?

They are going off of the assumptions made in the ranking at the site linked at the top of the thread.

They're assuming every team follows the big board at GBN. As to Harvey being the pick anyway that opinion seems to be gaining momentum lately.
