Because while Wilson is no all worlder, he only played in 11 games and almost equaled Cooper's numbers last year. Overall, his career is more decorated. His numbers are better.

It comes down to an upgrade. Maybe not a significant one, maybe he's just another filler for a year or two, but he's better than Deke Cooper, who had his best pro year last year, with almost dismal numbers.

seems Wilson would clearly be an upgrade but maybe not enough of one to be that interesting to the team

Decorated doesn't mean shit. Performance does, particulary consistent performance, of late.

He's dinged up, and no, his numbers we not better than Cooper's last year.

Cooper played 16 games, Wilson 11.

    Cooper had 3 INT's (1 every 5.3 games), Wilson 1 (1 every 11 games).

Cooper had 59 tackles (3.7 per game), Wilson had 21 (2.8 per game).

They were both about even, in terms of PD's.

Wilson got a 1 year, 1.8 million deal. This for a decent FS who has missed 17 regular season games in the last two seasons. :N1yeeaah:

To me, there were viable safeties on the market who could have helped us. Wilson was not one of my fav's, and we can agree to disagree on that.

    I was referring to Eugene.

Sorry for trashing the coveted Hackett thread with Safety talk--it just gets old, ya know, hearing about how many games our Safeties lost for us last year.
