There is a reaon he hasn't gotten much interest. He's a good 3rd receiver. Moose is a solid #2 on the outside. I'm not sure Hackett would be ass effective playing outside. Other than age what does Hackett have going for him over Moose? He's not proven, his injuries are a big concern and he's never really been a #2.
Seattle's receivers aren't really world beaters. Deion Branch might not even start the season and they made no effort to bring him back.

So? Steve Smith missed 15 games in 04, and 4 games in 06...does that make him inury prone, or a bad investment? Also, have you looked at all the WR's Seattle has on their roster? It was no problem for them to give the guy some extra time to heal, and Hackett had to be pretty damn good to get the production that he did with the guys in front of him. I'm telling you, Hackett is just getting started...he will be a great investment for whoever signs him.

I guarantee you that he wouldn't be behind Moose for long, IF Moose could beat him out for #2 in the first place, which I'm not at all convinced of at this point.

I'm not convinced he can be in a uniform 6 games in a row. Smith, for your comparison, started 45 games in 3 years. Hackett has played in 33 in four.

I certainly don't see him as starter over Moose...not at all.

Just because he had a high ankle sprain last year, you don't believe the guy can play 6 games in a row? Y'all do realize that football players get hurt sometimes, right? And BTW, when was the last time a Panthers #3WR caught 6 passes for 101yds in a play off game?

For the record, I don't think Hackett played at all as a rookie, but I also don't know if it was because of an injury or because he was a rookie, so I'm not really worried about those numbers just yet. What I know for sure, is that Hackett is at that point where WR's tend to have breakout seasons, while Moose is at the end. But hey, if Moose can still win the #2 job, more power to him, but it sure as hell wouldn't hurt to have a guy like Hackett playing in the slot with Moose and Smitty on the outside. We could finally have an offense that opponents fear again.

I have no problem with him earning a spot.

But its like Gantt putting Jarrett ahead of Moose on his projection. Jarrett has shown very little. He could break out. Some recievers break out in their second year. Or we could see more of the same. That happens a lot too.

Put it this way. Peerless Price had a some nice numbers as a #2 in Buffalo. As a #1 he fizzled. Same thing can happen here.

Let's not promote a guy on the hopes that he can do more than he's proven. His best year was 610 yards in a passing offense. That's good, and we could use someone that gives us what Prohel gave us. But he's not shown more than that yet.

    #3 WR? I dunno. Proehl?

At any rate, those are fantastic numbers. How often do you see guys who start every game, like our two starters, just up and lose a job to a guy who's inconsistent, not often healthy, and streaky?

I don't think anyone's saying "hey, don't sign this guy." He's a good player, and I said above even though I don't think he'd start, he'd make plays. I'm fine with him. But I don't think he's our starter this year.

Seahawks receiver D.J. Hackett visited the Redskins, got an offer, and didn’t accept it.

According to the Washington Times, Hackett will explore other options before making a decision.

“This will all be up to him,” coach Jim Zorn told David Elfin of the Washington Times. ”We’re not going to risk it all to try to pay him. The financial package has to work. But if we have a chance to get him, we’d like to have him. He’s got two other teams plus Seattle that wants to match [his contract offers].”

It’s a dramatic change in approach by the Redskins to free agency. In the past, the ‘Skins would close the deal quickly and decisively, usually by overpaying via a multi-year contract that was destined to be terminated in a couple of years.

Indeed, Hackett was the first free-agent that the ‘Skins hosted this year. They previously have re-signed two of their own free agents — quarterback Todd Collins and running back Rock Cartwright . . . Cartwright!

Hackett will visit the Panthers and the Buccaneers. The Seahawks also have an interest in bringing him back.

FWIW, this has been a damn good page and a half to read, as far as what he brings, and his competition with Moose. This is why message boards can rock.
