Didn't he wreck a car right after we drafted him because he was racing or for some other reason traveling entirely too fast?

Dwayne Jarrett Walks Away from Car Accident

    Posted Jun 21st 2007 3:20PM by David J. Warner

Carolina Panthers GM Marty Hurney would like you to know that rookie wideout Dwayne Jarrett is okay after getting in a car accident last night. Details are scant at this point, but according to Hurney, the rookie hasn't suffered any injuries that would keep him from being at full strength when training camp begins.

Certainly, the last thing anyone in Charlotte wants to hear is another story about a star athlete in a car accident. This city still has painful memories of Charlotte Hornets star Bobby Phills getting killed in a crash while racing David Wesley. We won't presume that Jarrett was doing anything like that; car accidents happen every day, after all, so until we hear some details, we'll just be thankful he's okay and hope his insurance company doesn't stiff him too much.

UPDATE (9:45 PM): Sports Illustrated is reporting that Jarrett was rear-ended on I-77, so only his car suffered in this. I hope he didn't blow his signing bonus on it.

DWI at 21 isn't that big of a deal - but what is a big deal is that a large percentage of DWI people have alcohol or drug problems.

Again - at 21 I'd say not so much. For Lamar Smith, yeah.

    Bad news, though.

"maybe he should be studying film instead of getting saused and driving." Steve Smith.

Well, yeah, it's just that he's progressed past the "only party on the weekend" stage.
