Morgan has nothing to do with this one way or the other. Seward has experience in the 3-4 defense from college and he is the right size to play ILB in that system. That, along with the fact that he's a good ST's player, and the age of their LBing corps, makes Seward valuable to the Pats. He would be a very good back up in that system, and may even get a chance to start some games.

If they take Seward I am fine with it. An extra pick, even in the fifth round, might be useful. If they don't take him then that is fine too he is good for depth and STs.

Yeah, if nothing else, that extra 5th rounder would give us some leverage to maybe move up and get another 3rd, or maybe even a 2nd rounder, depending on how they package the lower picks, and who would be willing to make a trade.

Hopefully, Tim Shaw will be able to do the things that Seward was doing for us, and stay healthy doing it.

Boy, that'll be a signing that the NE fans will rally around :)

given that he's already expected to make almost $1 mil, the Pats will probably have to put together a fair amount more than that to get him, but in the $2-2.5 mil range.

Which is fine, we have our 3 starters, but to me Seward was our most valuable backup. So we probably won't match whatever, and I guess we shouldn't, but it does change our needs. We don't really have a backup MLB. Maybe Melton.

You haven't seen Melton play a snap of football.

He's the only one with MLB experience.

Anderson was our back up middle LB last season. He played a couple games before beason steped in. melton sucked in New orlands and he'll suck here. he's a special teams guy i would rather put Jason Kyle in there.

Seward was our backup. Anderson played out of place and was awful.

    Are you Snotz?

We can draft a guy late who can fill in as a middle linebacker and probably get a guy with more potential than Seward...
