So we are saving a boatload of cap by doing this? I think I read somewhere that Coleman left Tampa w/o signing and was heading this way? Will the cap savings from Jenkins more than pay to get Coleman here and still have some leftover? They had to feel like they could get Coleman

I'd rather him just be here. A 3rd won't help us this year, and if we do get into Coleman cheap we've done well to fill behind the need and hopefully not at too much of an expense, but he's not as good.

The Jets 3rd + Our 3rd = the 43rd pick (second round) according to the draft value chart. So maybe we can trade up with ourselves. :)

Seriously, if that 3rd rounder allows us to move up and have TWO 2nd's in the top half of that round, we could address OT, RB, DT and wind up with three quality players.

Or if we sign Coleman with part of Jenks cap space, we could do OT, RB, and DE with those three picks.

    Still looking like a 3 and a 5.

The quote posted about only a 3 was from 4:30 this morning. The post about the 3 and 5 was at 7am.

i love the oppotunities we may be presented with the extra picks, however, our draft choices have been less than stellar in years past, as we've all rehashed countless times. we're giving up a lot here, we need to make these picks count, and not doing so is what scares me most about this deal.

I just think they were done with Jenks. I'm not happy they were done with him - that for whatever reason, he didn't work out - but I'm happy we didn't just cut him.

    $3 million I read. So yeah - that's something.

And I'd think that a 3rd and a 5th gets you close to a second.

    What'd we give up for Harris - a 4th?

On a positive note, our last two 5th rounders were King and Rosario, who have turned out to be pretty good players and we got Harris for a 5th round pick as well. We seem to never have much luck with 3rd rounders though, although the jury is still out on Charles Johnson.
