Well, he said all the right things. Glad that he has maintained a friendship with Jake and it sounds like Smitty was on board. Smitty probably told him Jarrett couldnt carry his jockstrap and could he please show him how to run a route while he was at it.

He did say all the right things... and it's very encouraging he mentioned playing as a #3 WR... leads me to believe it's been discussed and a #2 WR is TBD

I'm can be onboard with that.

'The Flower' blooming in Carolina [IMG]
    February 28, 2008 1:47 PM

    Posted by ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas.
With snow falling in the mountains and cold weather in Charlotte, spring came early to the Carolinas. "The Flower" bloomed Wednesday when the Carolina Panthers brought back receiver Muhsin Muhammad after he had spent the last three seasons with Chicago.
Muhammad was brought in mainly to serve as a mentor to Dwayne Jarrett and to give the Panthers a receiver who can get along with the mercurial Steve Smith, which is interesting because Muhammad is one of the most self-centered players in the league. The Carolina media (of which I used to be a part) dubbed him "The Flower" after an embarrassing loss to Oakland back in the George Seifert days.
The Raiders beat the Panthers 52-9 and were facing a Christmas Eve flight back to Charlotte. But Muhammad was the only happy guy in the locker room. After all, he had just made his 100th catch of the season.
"From the ashes and the rubble, I guess you could say a flower grew today," Muhammad told reporters at the time and "The Flower" was born. He also spurned the Panthers after the 2004 season because the Bears were offering a little bit more money.
Yet, the Panthers brought Muhammad back because they think he's a team player. Funny, but they said the same thing when they signed Keyshawn Johnson before the 2006 season. That didn't work out and Muhammad is one of the few guys with the potential to make Johnson look like the modest type.

What's the deal. First Gannt and now Yasinskas? The media are not Moose fans. And he's not that arrogant.

Doesn't surprise me, he's the one I KNEW didn't like Moose AT ALL and implied that was widespread throughout the press locally. Smitty said when he first got into the league it was about what he could do to be great and Moose was the one who taught him it was what you could do for the team. If you look back at game film from Smitty's early career it shows. Make a great play and he ignored teammates congratulations and played to the crowd and rarely acknowledged other players' good play. After a year or two that changed dramatically. Moose may be supremely self confidant, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I think he has an ego, but I think he also knows it's a team sport.

I remember the quote and it wasn't put out at the best time for the team. We'd missed the playoffs, gotten blown out, and there was the ominous issue between Beuerlein and Seifert at the time over Lewis and playing time.

But, he was expressing a little positivity about his accomplishment. It wasn't smart, but it wasn't a big deal and to hold anymosity about it eight years later says something about these guys.
