then you're preparing for failure and saddling a new coach with an old coach's pick at QB

giving up picks to take a QB at 7 will only add to that problem

But we've all been over it and over it, and over it again....nothing new to talk about.

The reason I like him is he fits the mold of what a solid QB in the NFL is. He's big, got a strong and accurate arm and makes good decisions. Last season he threw for over 4,000 yards, with 23 TDs and only 5 ints. Against App St he threw for over 300 yds with a TD, so he can put up big numbers against a good team. That's my only concern with him is that he hasn't faced consistent good defensive players week in and week out. That and he might end up like Ryan Leaf, but he doesn't seem to be a nutcase, so that's good.

I think the media and scouts like him for the aforementioned things as well. But the media wants to jump on the bandwagon so they can predict the next Roethlisberger, and I may be a little caught up in that same trap. I just think he has a good future in the NFL, and would like for us to invest in a QB for once that might help our team. We've drafted 4 QBs in our past, with only one coming before the 4th round (K. Collins). Needless to say, he's the only one that ever had a decent year for us. Two of those were released within a year or two (LeFors and Fasani) and one was almost as old as the coach when he was drafted (Weinke). We've mostly depended on backups from other teams to come in and be our starter. Hopefully one day we can draft a QB that actually turns out to be worth a crap in the NFL, and he might turn the franchise around and get it heading in the right direction. But that's just me hoping!
