JD has not dropped 10+ catchable passes so far this year.

On Delhomme's interception at Houston: It was a gimmick play. Moose (Muhsin Muhammad) was to run a go route, and he broke it off. The read was that if the guy was deep to go somewhere else with the ball. I don't want to go into too much detail, but it was a combination of both things. There were a couple of options. You can dump it off short or get rid of it.

    · Beat me to it, wp.

    · Bad read by Jake, but I maintain that saying he floated it was off.

    · I do think this is a case of chemistry not being down. Moose read the coverage and broke off the route. Jake did not. Now, here is the conundrum.

    · In many NFL offenses, the receiver can break off that route, and the QB simply hits him short if he reads the same coverage and the two players read the play and react accordingly. But that sort of improvisation only happens in cases where players have that kind of chemistry. You’ll see this with Manning and Harrison a lot.

So, in our offense right now, I think it is wiser that our receivers just run the route.

Chemistry is there with Smith. Smith is having a career year, Moose a career busting year.

That was my point on the thread - Moose has 18 catches in 8 games. I'll bet (but don't know for sure) that he has 5 or 6 drops to his 18 catches.

And then this - so it isn't getting 'better' for Delhomme and Moose.

Amen MP....Moose Droppings have been present since the 2001 season. It is about asregular as a I-77 traffic jam.

When is Moose up for a contract next? I would imagine all of a sudden Jake Delhomme will look like a better QB. Funny how them things happen, real fucking funny...

Go back and look at that play again... Delhomme's reaction after the interception told the story. He wasn't pissed at himself, he was full-on pissed at Muhsin for breaking up his route. That was definitely a go route where Jake puts it in the endzone at a certain point and Muhsin Dropshammed makes the catch. Fuckin non-catching bastard...

This is his next to last year. In other words, next year is his contract year. He'll never make it. He has a base salary of over 4 mill next year. I doubt he will take a drastic cut, since he still thinks he's good. So he's a virtual lock to be gone, even if we wanted him for a small or even medium salay.

Honestly, I don't think its a contract year issue. I don't think he was ever good as an all around WR. He's always been good and enthusiasic at blocking, contract year or not. He's always been good at catching short patterns where he's wide open, and can spot the ball early. He has drops then, but not enough to ruin things. Those short wide open patterns occured alot during 1999, because we were playing teams with HORRIBLE Ds. At least 8 of them anyway. Those were the games where he ran up those stats.

I think his effort is fine and consistent. I just don't think he's any good at a consistent level against teams with good Ds.
