    Yeah, that's alot.

I really like Lewis as a 3rd DT in passing situations, but I'd worry about him as an every down guy.

Between Jenks, Kemo and Lewis, that's a TON of money to have tied up in DT's.

But as far as the contract, could have some incentives that are unlikely to be earned that make it that much (i.e Pro Bowl, 10 sacks, etc...)

that's a good bit of money. $4.5 mil a year is starter money. It's lower end starter, but it's a fair chunk. Would be interested to see what the bonus structure is, but I don't expect it to be terribly high, and some of it's in second year, "expected to be rolled over to signing bonus" level of roster bonus (guess, $2 mil, signing bonus this year $4 mil would net a 2008 cap hit of $2 mil with a modest salary of $750k)

The move doesn't necessarily mean Jenkins is gone, of course, or anyone; we needed pass rush and Lewis was as good as we had, and likely as good as anything available. I don't necessarily agree with the money, but we stole him last time around.

I wonder what kind of sacks and pressures Lewis could bring if he were an every down player. I wonder if that would make up for his shortcomings against the run.
