Sure, just below average. With pretty specific reasons. Reasons about 50% of teams would just fold, start over with something different, and continue failure. We're top 6 over the last 6 years, despite some problems (some of our own causing).

If people expect 11-5 every year, then whatever. I'd love it, but very few teams do it.

 

when you have 13 years, and 3 of them you made it to the championship or better, I don't know teams that have done better starting off. I dunno - I haven't seen any championships squandered here. Either we've been good enough or we haven't been.

Someone please set what they believe to be a realistic expectation, since no one's happy with mine.

 

According to magnus, Panthers shit does not stink. Even at "rock bottom," a handful of it only smells slightly.

 

I dunno. I didn't come into this expecting that "only a 9-7 average" and "only two Championship games" in six years would be so disappointing.

But again, if anyone who thinks this is so riduclous wants to outline what's actually realistic, by all means.

 

Not getting blown out repeatedly or occasionally beating teams that weren't either awful or coasting into the playoffs would probably be a good start.

Seriously, man, you're making a complete fool of yourself like you did back in the day with Seifert. It's ridiculous to say that fans don't have the right to be upset about this season, which you did in an earlier chipshot exchange. The Panthers sucked ass this season, and your feeble attempts to dispute that by focusing on a misleading 7-9 record just reinforce the fact that your analysis is rarely objective. I've never been particularly optimistic or pessimistic, I just call it like I see it.

A very realistic expectation would be more than just three winning seasons out of the thirteen years this franchise has existed. I'd expect 6 or more, especially considering the talent that has been on the roster.

 

so in the last six years, you were expecting more of a 10-6 record than a 9-7? Maybe 11-5?

Our best regular season was in . . . . 1996!!!!!!!!!! Geeeeeez, high school seniors were just in Kindergarten in the Panthers 2nd season. 97-111 Overall Regular Season record=Below average if my math is correct . . 6 seasons of 7-9=Lots of years when we were a tad below mediocrity . . . Is this worth throwing a parade down Tryon Street for ? ? ? ? OK, 6 times in team history we were on the cusp of being average/better than average and 3 times out of 5 the team has responded (2 of those times, we got into the playoffs).
