he knew what he was getting into. He couldn't coach a good team well enough, they gutted it, he knew it was possible. Maybe they let him fall on the sword, but in no way does a 2-14 season get excused. Seasons like that are awful, which is why I brought it up in perspective against the absolute horror of being 7-9 that everyone's thought to be the worst possible.

I'd guess going 4-12, 1-15, those weren't reminders enough, or maybe having some success means the expectation of infinite success.

Sure. They weren't pristine. We also, for the most part, had very good secondary play and safeties being in place most of the time and supporting the run the way they did, is very good for what we paid. That we should've paid more? Sure. That I want better free safety play? Sure. And it's very doable. Comparatively, we had issues that hurt us much worse, and our secondary was a positive, not a negative.

Take out the SUPER BOWL & NFC Title Game years, and we are a below average franchise (i.e. modern day Tampa Bay Buccaners). Remember, the Bucs made it to the NFC Title game in 1979 and were in the playoffs up until 1982 before they became god awful. I think fans & media have to stop treating that Super Bowl run year like it was a multi year run and admit it we have stunk as a franchise.

PS: If you want to say the Panthers 7-9 years weren't that bad, then I guess you can make a case that the Minnesota Vikings should've been the team of the 70's vs. Steelers/Cowboys/Dolphins   . . .

Give it a rest. With your "rock bottom" comment you were clearly indicating that the worst we've had is 7-9, and since that's not so bad, by implication people are whining too much. At no point have you acknowledged that this team was shitty this season. In fact, you've repeatedly said that fans are overreacting in their disappointment.

It's fun to watch Magnus tiptoe the line of criticizing the Panthers.

For once, that's actually a fairly fair representation of what I believe, yes.

And yes, I did say rock bottom, so to say I said we were decent is false.

I'm fine with actually criticizing the team. To expect 11-5 every year, I don't do that. To say only 2 seasons have mattered certainly seems a lot more politically charged than reasonable to me.

More often than not, this team is below average. Would you not agree? Is wanting and not being happy with the way things have been being unreasonable?

Yeah 0-26 is bad . . . . I'm just saying that outside of that 3-4 season period, Bucs fans didn't have much else to cheer about. I mean, us Panthers fans treat the 3 good years that we had as the glory years of the franchise, which is kinda sad. That's all I'm saying . . .
