As Dan Morgan carried his personal belongings out to his car Monday morning at Bank of America Stadium, he knew what was coming when the media caught up to him. As a player who has not been able to play an entire season in seven tries with the Carolina Panthers, and considering the play of rookie Jon Beason at middle linebacker this season, will Morgan be back?

“I’m not sure,” said Morgan, who started three games this season before suffering a season-ending Achilles tendon injury. “I don’t know what their plans are. I talked to (agent) Drew (Rosenhaus) and he said to wait until after the season and see what’s going on. I’m not too worried about it. Whatever’s going to happen is going to happen. We’ll move on either way.

realistic speaking if the cats as excepted chose not to Bering Morgan back. Will any team willing to take a risk on him that we might be able to get anything for him in a trade

I doubt any one would trade for him. If we cut him someone will offer him a deal at or near the minimum.

Why would any team give soemthing of value for a guy who won't make it past game 4 of the season. I like Morgan and always have. He always gave 100% and the Panthers D seemed to play better when he was on the field. Morgan's body just wasn't up to the NFL unfortunately and I'm sure it's hard for him to give up doing something he's dreamed about all his life.

He needs to quit for his own well being.

IMHO Morgan's playmaking ability is more highly regarded around the league than within this Board. That being said, there will be teams that bank on "this" being the year Morgan stays healthy, and given his on-field performance when healthy, he will undoubtedly get a very nice multi-million dollar per year deal.....possibly just a 1 year deal with an option year, but certainly for MUCH more than vet minimum....imo.

I'm rooting for the guy. I hope he continues with offseason work, the Panthers keep him (for reduced salary), and he gets back to where he's capable of playing. its not like his injuries were based on lack of effort. You have to feel for the guy. What are you supposed to do to prevent achilles injuries or concussions?

Making a tackle 4 yards past the LOS is not making a play. Dan Morgan is not a playmaker, he is a decent tackler. Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher and guys like that are playmakers. There is a huge, huge difference.

Morgan had the potential to be a guy like that but he never could stay healthy long enough to get there. He needs to hang it up.

Thanks for making my point because your feelings represent that by most of the Board. Look, I'm not going to get into a statistical argument that can be found on numerous old threads about Morgan. I only wanted to point out that imho Morgan is held in higher regard around the league than on this Board in terms of his playmaking ability. Whenever I read espn, foxsports, usa toda, etc, or hear a sportscaster on TV talk about Morgan, he is spoken of in terms of a Pro Bowl MLB who can't stay healthy. With than in mind, my point here is that if the Panthers release morgan then he will imo most certainly get a nice multi-million dollar deal to play for someone else. The idea he will have to settle for the vet minimum I beleive is crazy.

Putting it back on you, do you think nobody will be interested in Morgan if he becomes a free agent? Secondly, if he does have interest do you think he'll have to settle for vet min or will someone pay him much more? Obviously I believe the latter.
