What do you make of those plays where he [Peppers] never touches the pass blocker, but tries to outfake him, like a basketball player? I don't doubt his effort. Just that he's willing to be physical. I'd love to be wrong.

I think in those cases he's probably being asked to look for the RB leaking out to his side, and barring that, just occupy his man.

For once, I have to agree with Collin...people need to stop overreacting over Peppers having one down season. IMO, he'll be fine next year.

Damn the torpedo's, remember in the bold prediction thread (preseason) I said, "Something "dramatic" is revealed about Peppers" well, here goes, and I'm going to get cussed for saying this.

Somebody told me before the season started that Peppers was dealing with "Emotional Issues" I tried to get a better idea of just wtf but that was all I could get.

also, I was told that during the season the staff would be "deciding whether they want to be a Wahle type offensive line or a Gross type offensive line in 2008"

I think something's wrong with Peppers, and if that's the case, nd the FO knows it, I would hope they would unload him.

    I don't think it's anything physical - I think he's a headcase.

He hasn't been as dangerous as he used to be, and he was never a Brady or Manning, but he had an 89.9 rating this year, and a 85.3 for his career. Nothing to sneeze at. Doesn't turn the ball over much and still has the big arm.

With as few real quarterbacks out there, he's still got value.

Not sure why you give up on a guy in his prime who has played at an all Pro level just for one bad year.

He had not motivation for loafing it. One more pro bowl year, and he's the highest paid defensive player in the NFL.

I'd like to give him a pass rushing DE on the other side of him. The defense played adminably without it, but by design we need it.

I posted pretty much the same thing last week, agree.

edit: only difference is I didn't speculate as to what it might be.

We're just saying IF they know of a reason. Knowlege = power and all that.

If it's an unfixable reason, sure. That he doesn't lead enough team prayers or jumping jack drills, no.

it's funny, because after the year of the supposed "great QB controversy" finished up, the only thing we got out of it is that Jake does mean a good bit to this team, and got rewarded by seeing some awful QB play coupled with two QBs who came from nowhere to win football games on their first starts with the team.

Which is dangerous, Disney sports movie, fairy tale type nonsense, but might further the notion that QB change for the sake of QB change is the right move.
