If we did what many fans on here have wanted we would have the following quarterback coaches on our staff:

    Steve Buerlein
    Jim Harbaugh
    Frank Reich
    Steve Bono
    Rodney Peete
    and now
    Vinny Testaverde

Just because we have an old guy on our roster does not mean he would make a good QB coach.

It doesn't matter who the QB is the Panthers are going to be terrible again if they don't upgrade the OL. Signing or drafting a mobile QB is the only hope if no changes are made to the Line. Maybe we could draft that kid from Kentucky?

Jake was doing pretty well behind the current OL prior to his injury. I agree though that it needs an upgrade. It should get a change at least since Wharton and Gross are both at the end of their contracts. I am hoping we can find a way to draft Jake Long. It will likely require a trade up barring his stock somehow dropping or all the teams with worse records than us getting hot.

I'd like Simms out of the bunch, if we feel the #2 isn't currently with the team. Not going through that whole list but guys who are going to want an open competition for #1 probably aren't for us.

A general principle no to Culpepper (sucks), Brenda Warner (package deal with husband).

Losman, McCown, Ramsey are decent candidates for a #2 also.

We beat the 27th ranked defense and lost to the 26th ranked defense...so it wasn't really a big test.

The defense is solid except for the safeties. On offense we have pretty good skill players outside of #2 wide out and backup QB. Trading up for a "franchise" left tackle would not be a bad thing. Given our recent track record in the draft giving up picks for a guy who is almost a lock to be an all pro is probably smart.

The good thing is, that by the time FA and the draft come around, they should have a good idea of whether Jake will make it back or not.

BTW, why does everybody hate McCoy so much? If all these young QB's have failed because of him, then why haven't we seen any of them go to a better team, with a better QB's coach, and succeed? If you ask me, they just haven't given him any talent to work with, other than Delhomme, and he was already pretty much set in his ways by the time he came here, IMO.
