Vinny - 2008?

If Carr is our primary backup next season then I will be very surprised. That would be a move that costs the team credibility.

 

Caught a segment on ESPN during lunch that basically said he's most likely done after this season.

 

Carr is done in Carolina, and the QB market isn't spectacular this year leaving Vinny as maybe the best option. I think that's the point Gantt was making.

 

lets sign everyones re-treads since we dont have anyone (except for Colin) that can evaluate QB's and get us a good, young one on the roster...maybe Montana or Jim Kelly was in town recently, maybe the Panthers worked him out while he was here.

As much as I like Jake he is coming off surgery on his throwing arm. No one knows how well he will recover from that. He has also missed significant time the past two seasons. I think we need to find a quality guy to back him up or even compete with him. I will throw some names out that might be available:

Culpepper - mentioned above
McNabb - may be available but he is a whiney little b*tch
Kurt Warner - Do they go with Lienart full time next year?
Harrington - he has done better than Carr but still not great.
Chris Sims - will he play again
Grossman - he is a free agent, can he play well consistently?
JP Lossman - he may be out if Edwards is the starter
Chad Pennington - if he can get his arm strength back he is OK
Charlie Batch - he could start for a lot of teams
Patrick Ramsey - he is still floating around somewhere
Josh McCown - Russell should start next year

Can anyone think of someone else, my list is pretty weak really.

 

just to make sure we understand I'm being sarcastic about David Carr as a football coach. I'm fully in support of getting rid of Mike McCoy, though.
