you forgetting Greg Hartle who played for the Cardinals in the '70's? Herb Spencer played for Birmingham in the USFL. As far as I know these are the only two to make it into the pros. Spencer made it to the final cut with both Atlanta and Washington. Spencer was kicked off the team at Newberry when coach Reid Charpia found an empty beer can outside his room during the season. I talked him into playing for my frat's intramural team and the rest is history...LOL

 

T, did you go to the 'Berry?

Those guys that you mentioned were a little before my time. I was there in the '80's. The only two that came anywhere near being in the pros when I was there were Mark Kennedy (Dallas--got cut in the first wave) and Eddie Taylor (Atlanta--made it thru until last cuts; toss up between him and another kicker who had more experience but ET was better; experience won out.)

 

yep, I escaped.....err graduated in 1984. Eddie was there when I was, Kennedy's name sounds familiar but I can't place him right now.

 

You were there when I was there. My hubby and I graduated in '87. Mark Kennedy graduated about the same time you did. He played defense (LB maybe? I can't remember). My hubby played football with him at Newberry.
