Since I started driving this delivery route I have been listening to alot of talk radio and of course the last few weeks there has been a great deal of discussion about the Pats running up the score.

First of all, these are professionals. The offense gets paid to score, the defense gets paid to stop them...it's that simple. So the points they are scoring are not the issue, but HOW they score.
If they were running the football eating up the clock and still scoring TD's, there is no argument. However they are throwing the ball and going for it on fourth down rather than kicking FG's when they already have games in hand (today excluded, of course).

I had a huge problem with a coach in our league doing this kind of thing to us this year. No problem with the players, just the coach...and all he did was piss my kids off and put his players at risk. Throwing the ball up 32-0 in the fourth quarter with 3:00 on the clock is low class at this level, but it's seventh grade football, players don't get pay checks, they get participation trophy's if they are 6-0 or 0-6.
Youth, HS or College level I have a huge problem with a team doing these kind of things. Passing late with a big lead and your #1's in is bullshit at any level. If you're doing it running the ball, it entirely different.

Blah, blah, blah. Ditka, Madden and Gibbs had no problem with it so neither should you. I don't think I've heard one ex-player analyst have a problem with it. It is their offense and that's what they run. It's more of an insult to just run it off tackle every play. Do you want them taking a knee in the 3rd quarted because it's 32-0?

As far as starters go, the Pats play almost their entire roster so there really are no backups. Brady was pulled with almost 25% of the game left.

    Stop crying.

Actually pretty much everyone on ESPN countdown this morning was saying that it's inappropriate. Yes, they also said that the other teams are professionals and get paid to stop the Pats, but they agreed that keeping your starting QB in and continuing to pass even on 4th downs with that kind of lead is unsportsmanlike and just asking for trouble. I reiterate my position that if I were coaching one of those teams, I'd instruct my players to hurt Brady.

Who's "everyone"? I've heard everyone from Shannon Sharpe to John Madden say they have no problem with the patriots running their offense. Joe Gibbs said it was not inapropriate and I think we can agree that his opinion counts, right?

They throw the ball a lot and they are not going to change that just because they are up big. Doing so would be more insulting to the opponent. They are also not going to kick chip-shot field goals on 4th down. That is also insulting. Instead they ran their offense and gave the opponent another opportunity to stop them.

Reason #10,001 why you are not coaching an NFL team. Stick to prentending you know what a cover-3 defense is.

The Pats are the best team in football right now. Period. They will see the Colts again.

Tom Jackson, Ditka, Parcells, and whoever else is on that show.
He's going to say that regardless of what he actually believes because doing otherwise when you're the one who got pasted would just come off as whining.
Every other team in the history of the world does. This is about Bill Belichick pissing all over the NFL because he's mad about getting caught cheating. Boo hoo.

No one is suggesting that the Pats aren't awesome, just that they're being unsportsmanlike.
