Yeah, but Jeff Lewis never really played. It's not like we ever, you know, LED THE DIVISION at the halfway point and Jeff Lewis was thrown to the wolves.

Really, I can't think of a time I was this disappointed in the QB play, mainly because of where we are in the division, what week we are in, and how fucking horrible David Carr is.

I know Anderson from Cleveland isnt any good, but since we dont use our first day picks anyway, we ought to think about acquiring someone of his caliber.

Carr looks really gunshy....BUT...we have a team that is designed for a QB to not have to be GREAT...just to avoid trouble, and make decent decisions, as long as the defense can be stingy. They haven't been too stingy lately. I'm not sure ANY qb could be winning with the way we've played as a whole.

Brady Quinn is looking like a pretty good pick right about now.

QB is not a top 5 concern? OK...how many people here think we would have lost 31-7 if we had Peyton Manning, and the Colts had David Carr?

    Anybody?

QB is the most important position on any NFL football team. Any HC can tell you that. If you don't have consistency at that position, you damn well better have a defense and ST's that can score for you like the Bears did last year.

But that's true. Unless you're an elite QB, the best thing you can do is to convert third downs and avoid mistakes. We didn't make two NFCCGs because of Delhomme. He didn't put anyone on his back and carry them. He was plenty solid, but we made those games because our defense was better back then and our special teams wasn't ass awful.
Look, dude, you can try to pin the bias tag on me all you want, but you're the only one who has actually shown consistent bias. I'm not excusing anyone of anything, and I've never applied a standard to one player that I didn't apply equally to every other player at his position.
He has played fine for a starter, just as Testaverde did. You haven't provided any facts or evidence to even suggest otherwise, you just wanted to crap on the guy first because you viewed him as a threat to Delhomme, and now just to annoy me. Whether or not you can admit that openly, I certainly hope that you're honest enough with yourself to admit it privately.

Good lord. It's like there's a contest for dumbest human being on the planet that you and Thelt are both going balls out for, but I never heard about it. Peyton Manning is an elite QB; no one else in this discussion is. The Panthers have never had an elite QB, and John Fox teams are not designed to rely on the QB for wins. They're supposed to convert third downs and avoid mistakes. Both Carr and Testaverde have been more than adequate for a team that didn't have glaring holes on defense and special teams.

LOL...You call me the dumbest human on the planet, yet you can't tell the difference between garbage time stats and productive QB play. You're so smart, your stupid, Collin. All those long winded posts with piles of stats and insults, have gotten in the way of your common sense.

For the record, I'm not saying that we have to have an elite QB to win, I'm saying that we have to have consistency. The 2 best QB's in the league, Manning and Brady, also happen to never miss a game, and their O-lines have mostly stayed the same over the last few years. It's that consistency that really makes those offenses special, not just talent. Offense is all about timing and rhythm, and the longer you can keep a group together, the better that gets.

There was no garbage time there. The Colts weren't playing a prevent, they were playing the same defense they had all game. Are you really too stupid that you couldn't tell or is just you hating on Carr again? You have consistently shown that you have no clue while being an overbearing asshole. You can be one or the other, but not both.

I never said that they were playing a prevent defense, Mr. Wizard. It's pretty damned obvious that they weren't worried about a bunch of 5yd completions in the 4th quarter though. You can't really be so incredibly stupid that you actually think all those little dump off passes meant anything when they had a big lead, can you?

Anyway, go and look at Carr's numbers from Houston. It was the same damn thing he's been doing here...lots of completions for little yardage and not many TD's. The Texans didn't just let their $40 million investment go for no reason. They knew damn well what they were giving up.
