Absolutely correct. I like the idea of more Lewis and Moorehead too. Gives us more penetration through the middle. This will be a fucking test for Beason.

This is exacatly what makes them so effective. It creates hesitation, and that O thrives off of that. Most of their big plays come off of defenders hesitating because they dont trust what they see, or bite on simple playfakes.

    And that worries me.

Especially in the redzone. We've been open to this in the past as well, with many of opposing offenses getting their big plays in centerfield. Theyre sure to try to exploit the shit out of this.

It does to a degree, IMO. I dont like what we have with a spread O anyways. Our best package is with our TEs and FB involved. We can still spread with them, but I dont like it.

Which is why were going to have to settle down on the smoke screens to Smith. That shit doesnt work well if were not testing them deep with him occasionally anyway. And it should only be a hot read between Smitty and the QB, in my opinion, when the defense allows for it.

And yeah. Definitely, our O needs to stay on the field. So Davidson will have to run the fucking ball next week, even if we get a few yards here and a few there, and not jump ship when were not getting yards in chunks.

The other issue is getting pressure on Manning. I don't think we can do that consistently, both because the DEs have read responsibilities in PA that slow them down, and because Indy is a pretty good pass blocking team. Because they use the slot so much, I imagine we'll play plenty of nickel, which means lots of Marshall. The one time I'd like to see us drop Peppers is if we're blitzing the nickel weakside as well as the linebacker to that side, with the other nickel LB rotating over and Pep dropping into the vacated zone. That should help us get more blitzers than they have blockers, but Marshall (or Gamble if he's playing the nickel) has to be alert for Addai chipping and leaking out backside.

Bigtime. And theyll pick, theyll cross, theyll set us up deep to get him out in the open, and pick up those first downs on 5, 7, 8 yards by doing that. Which brings up zone, of course, and when we begin stopping that, they beat us deep, or rape the centerfield. Peppers is going to be key in this game. I would actually say THIS TIME, it might not be such a bad idea to drop him more often than not, which you touched upon.

What sucks is that playing Indi is more of a safety dictated game than most...and we have to rely on Harris to make those calls.

only place they struggle on, or rather where they're average, is run defense, and I think they're around 18th. I haven't put much thought into whether they can be played for field position. We have corners to match up with them, in theory. Guess we'll have time for some fun nickel packages but I don't know that there's much that will fool Peyton.

I don't think we should really try fooling him. Our chance is in making it a battle of attrition. If they get up early, it's pretty much over.

Sustaining some drives with a good running game keeping their offense off the field would be nice.

The thought of Peyton crying 'WHY! WHY!!!' with his accent made me laugh.
