we're still on the hook for a total of $10 mil of signing bonus. We can cut him and it'll still cost us the proration.

I saw a lot of difference. At WLB, Beason seems to be more reactive, which sometimes leads him to get caught up in the wash and end up making his tackles five or more yards downfield. But today he was able to read plays as they developed and get into the hole. He also seems better in coverage in the middle than out on the edge.

give a specific reason a player would become a better cover man because he's standing three yards to his left of where he otherwise would be.

Based on what I saw today, I prefer Beason inside. It was nice seeing him make plays on all parts of the field, and theres no question that he was our best defensive player today.

Who you're mirroring, how well you see the routes developing, how much space you're required to cover, etc. An outside linebacker's drop is to the outside. He has to get moving out to his zone, whereas the MLB can stay and watch the routes develop.

that's fair enough. Of course, it may be that there's just less learning curve right now - he's rangy enough to make things happen to the outside or even to the sideline.
I can see that, possibly, some of the reason people wanted him at MLB from the first place is that it means no more Morgan. But he's legitimate there at this point. At this point, I'm glad we stopped the bleeding at MLB and if they do keep him there, good enough.

Okay, I'll go along; anything that gets rid of Morgan is fine with me, maybe he got Pipped today. I just figure Diggs to be hurt or ineffective,. from week to week.
