Steve Smith is our best punt returner and I'd put the ball in his hands as much as I could. This whole "protect him from injury" theory makes me nuts every time I watch Devin Hester.

Devin Hester is not the lynchpin of Chicago's offense.

Anyone else notice the return where he basically dove into a tackler? Was that on purpose? I think it was the last drive around 3 minutes left where we ran out the clock.

The problem is Smith isn't exactly thrilled with the thought of being a returner again judging by some of the comments he made last year. I'd hate to lose him to injury he got from returning a kick: the thought of Carter and Cobert as the 1 and 2 receivers is beyond scary...

Devin Hester isn't a Pro Bowl WR. Not to mention, he's not 5% of the Chicago O, much less 50%.

Marshall hasn't done anything to beat Lucas. I think some people are just hoping this will be an easy solution, but it's not.

Not an awful idea. The big problem, though, is that we would have no punt returner. We would probably have to start using Gamble again.

At the time I thought it was a ball protecting move. Football that is.

That was my thought as well, I was actually glad he did that as opposed to having a Goings type fuck up.

yeah, but damn they really don't trust him. He could have gotten 10 more yards. That's being super conservative.
