I was no fan of Henning, but that ATL gameplan was a thing of beauty considering Weinke's bombs against Pittsburgh and the NYG.

"Football, in any classification is a percentage game. A Quarterback who goes against percentages too often will fail. He'll have to be extremely lucky. No one figures to be that lucky due to so many extenuating circumstances involved in a 22 man game.

The following rules for play calling have been established for the Panthers to reduce the margin for tactical error. Errors in play calling will kill us quicker than mistakes in any other phase of football.

    60% run
    40% pass

The above percentage between pass and run is the healthy approach to pro football in any tightly played football game. To run more than 60% of the time will result in low scoring unless we are definitely superior. To pass more than 40% could mean costly losses as the result of failure in pass protection with loss of ball possession and field position due to interceptions."

Petrino wants his D to go for the ball this Sunday. They are going to be trying for the strip and baiting Jake at every opportunity.
Fox better have our guys on their A game.
You think there's been whining and irrational ideas around here so far . . . if we lose (or play really crappily and narrowly win) this board will really start getting ugly

Let's be sure not to let Indianapolis get ahold of these gems of wisdom.

You really do not know what was said between Fox and Henning. While it is true Fox did not take over the play calling he could have pushed Henning in the direction he went with that game plan. Certainly it was a big departure from what we had been doing prior to that game.

Because of Weinke. I know that Fox was not behind it because I understand football and you do not. For one, Fox has a defensive background and couldn't install those formations or that gameplan even if he wanted to. As I already explained to you, it's obvious that Fox was frustrated with the running game and wanted to make a point, but against ATL we weren't just running standard running plays over and over again, it involved setting up a whole new aspect of the playbook. Fox doesn't have the expertise to do that, even if he showed that much disrespect to Henning to shove him out of his job, which he wouldn't.

The problem is that most fans have a very limited understanding of the game. They don't really grasp the situation on more than a face-value level, and they don't get why it couldn't be Fox. Plus, people were blaming Henning for all their offensive frustrations, and it's hard to do that if you also give him credit for inventive gameplans like that one. But whether you choose to give him credit or not, he was 100% responsible for it. Again, Fox undoubtedly asked him to come up with something, but it was 100% Henning, both because Fox wouldn't bitch a coach like that and because he wouldn't have the expertise to do so regardless.

So, if possible, could we maybe focus on the Falcons game that has yet to be played?

NOt in this thread! This is a thread about last year's game.

At any rate, anybody have any clue when the last time the run pass ration was 7-52?

I guess technically, Weinke was sacked 3 times, so, the playcalls were 10 run 49 pass.

1929. Providence Steamrollers rushed 81 times and threw only twice in a 5-4 win over the Scottish Claymores.

Thanks for the information, shit for brains. You are a useless fucking fuckhole, and you should consider stapling your boltbag to your counter and beating it with a can of alpo.

Heh. In college I-AA, Wofford had a game a couple of years ago with, I think only 4 pass attempts (only one was completed), and there was a butt-load of running.
