maybe. but when you're talking state schools, there is a big difference in tuition paid by out of state and in state residents.

UNCC is $7300 per semester out of state; Indiana University of Pennsylvania is about $2600 for instate residents; Penn State main campus is around $6400 for in state.

Check around. It is a lot cheaper to go to an out of state school down South than in state a lot of places up North. Pittsburgh is a good example.

According to this, Pittsburgh is $9,278 in-state.

All I know is I asked around and everyone told me it was cheaper for them to go out of state. I'm speaking more about Clemson than UNCC, although i've heard the same for UNCC students. My college roomates were from Boston, New Jersey, and New York. I'm not saying that they couldn't have found a cheaper in state school, but that when they compared Clemson to the schools in their area that they might want to attend, they found that they wanted to go to Clemson and actually saved money by doing so when they factored in cost of living expenses as well. Keep in mind that this was 10+ years ago. Since then Clemson has had several tuition increases and hit the out of state folks harder. Another thing is declaring residency. A lot of people I know were able to do so, and the savings was even greater.
