Weinke was a mechanically sound passer. His decisions were horrible and he only saw one side of the field, but mechanically and arm-strength-wise...he was stronger and threw a crisper ball. Our receivers said his velocity was faster and his spiral was tighter....I trust their word.

When we had sure-handed guys like Proehl and Keyshawn, it wasn't a problem, except for a few instances.

As far as Colbert goes, the only pattern is that he continues to suck.

The numbers are good, but Smitty has to be given credit for at least 50% of his numbers. It should all even out by the end of the year.

And every ball every other QB in the league throws is in the perfect spot right? No one else has ever thrown a ball high or put one in the dirt?

I trust my eyes. Forget about last year, think back to whenever he played in the preseason. He habitually missed open receivers. I don't disagree that he has better arm strength or some better mechanics, but that doesn't make him a better passer.

How much credit do Chad Johnson and T.J Whosyamma get for Palmer's numbers?

How much credit do Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, and Dallas Clark get for Mannings?

You did. Nevermind that, throughout his career here, people actually had concerns about Weinke throwing to his left. Like half the field, people had concerns about him throwing to half the field. Not just seeing the field, he could see fine. He had trouble throwing to that side.

and you called Jake a backup his 2005 year, the year he made a Pro Bowl. Your specific words were that, unless Lefors became something special, we "have three backups." Realistically, how is a five year starter a backup?

The argument that Jake would be a lesser QB without Smith is true. Naturally. A good receiver, a good line, whatever, is going to help anyone. That's why it's a team game. The idea that Jake's a crap QB because Smith makes him look good is false.

I'm going to go on ahead and guess that having you back this statement up isn't a realistic question for me to ask.

If you ask those whose opinion matters the most, the quarterbacks, you`ll get an accurate answer.
I`m not saying Jake wouldn`t have ok numbers without Smitty, but having one of the most dynamic yards after catch guys means a shitload.
