They get way better shows that we do. I'm going up there Sunday to see Interpol, then I see Andrew Byrd is playing up there tonight. The Hold Steady, The Decembrists and a shit ton of other whip ass bands are playing up there before the end of the year. Why does the Raleigh area continue to get shows that don't suck and we only get a handful?

Winston Salem has a better music scene than Charlotte.

I've seen Slayer, Slipknot, Pantera, Megadeth, Weezer, Pearl Jam, Tool, Flogging Molly, Stuck Mojo, and the J's all in Winston.

Charlotte gets Celine Dion and Billy Joel. Although the remodeling of Amos's might help. Already saw Dropkick Murphys there and Henry Rollins is coming back to town.

everyone of those bands has played in Charlotte.

its not the citys fault, its the clubs and the people that book shows. Tremont used to get every good punk band that came around about 10 years ago. changed the person that books shows and all of a sudden its kiss95 top 40 bands playing there. place sucks now. look at the venues around. Amos is for gel-hired frat boys so thats the bands that play there. also any good band on tour has probably played in Atlanta and may consider CLT close enough that they skip it and go to W-S/Raleigh/Chapel Hill.

I lived in Charlotte for like 6 years. Granted, i did see Flogging Molly and Tool, and I'm sure Pearl Jam came through, but I recall many of times having to go to Ziggy's to see good bands. Especially before they became popular.

That's still the case. Amos' is probably the same size as Ziggy's or bigger now and still doesn't get the bands it could. It's getting better, though.

Ziggys has always gotten good bands. like I say good venues will book good bands. when I lived in Wilmington , the Mad Monk was an awesome place to see shows, and they got good bands. they closed and I dont think any decent bands play there anymore.
