    they're going to need to spend some of that money on getting cap space for the future.

    it's kinda dangerous going into the season that tight on the cap - you have to sign one guy, a vet, and he's replacing a guy that goes on IR, that $600k for the Bears won't go far.

    to be fair, Brown always seems to go down around this time of year.
    But yeah, all that safety depth they had, well, a lot of it's brand new depth. And it's not any less new today than yesterday.

    No, they're in horrible cap shape. How much you have this season means almost nothing because there is no one to spend it on, and the Colts are that far under the cap because of the extensions they gave to Freeney, etc. It would be much more interesting to see how much teams are expected to have at the start of next season.

    What's important and what is almost completely overlooked on this board is what the cap will be in coming years.
