Game Balls

I have hopes. That doesn't mean I don't have doubts.

Everything today was a positive.

Jake. Smitty. A couple other recievers making plays. Running game. Tackling. Linebacker plays vs pass and run. Front 4 dominance.

It's good.

 

It's a significant win, no matter how we got it.

We come back home for a non-conference opponent (with few traveling fans). Should be a packed, rowdy house. That's a good thing.

Houston, to me, is our toughest test in the first qtr. Tampa is already dinged/not scoring points, and Atlanta is fucked with a big dick right about now.

 

While I don't want to be known as a dirty team I like being thought of as a physical team. Plays like this gets around the league. Gotta scare the opponents

We lulled ourselves after the first offensive drive, and didn't pick it back up again for a while. And there's the Hartwig snap. Kasay's lack of hook on the 47. Hall's one return.

But to add to all the other positives, we came out with a road win to open the season, which never sucks, and we came out healthy.

 

Did Lucas look as bad as he sounded on the radio? Seems like he had several bone headed plays (pass interf.)

 

one was for "holding onto his arm", which was outright bullshit. One was for essentially tripping, which I could've seen.

And he gave up the Holt TD, though the rules pretty much guarantee that either you physically get in front of him to break the ball up or he's going to catch that ball/get the PI call. Lucas sat back 3-4 yards and Holt just leaned inside after two steps.



Also, that non-call on Colbert hurt us.

 

SS, just because he backed up his "new offense" comments and proved it. Made Jake look good.

that sort of statement always gets me. A 3 TD game is usually good enough, but more than that, these guys are supposed to make each other look good. It's not like this was some awful performance by a QB that a WR screen taken to the house made him look like he had some yards.

 

Kinda of like saying Jake made the Body Catcher look good.
