A fast start will cure a lot of the apathy. I think we're accustomed to starting slow--that certainly explains my lack of ease in September lately.

In fact, since 2004, Carolina has started the first quarter of the season 5-8. In Fox's first two years, we were 7-1.

Yep. Starting in St louis is kinda scary.

The dome thing, and the gamble pass on the punt return, lord god make the memories end. I need therapy.

    Fast starts = fans happy.

    Fans happy = better crowds.

Better crowds = better home atmosphere

2003 had a much different feel than any season since (although 2005 had some moments).

Starting 5-0 that year generated a nice buzz--that, and we were upstart.

Plus, it's just nice to win, right?

all I wanted was for them to get through preseason healthy, and see what they look like opening day. all of these predictions are worthless. Until we see a real game with our starters playing major minutes nobody knows.

    I'm cautiously optimistic.

...Depends on the health. The front nine looks pretty stout if Davis, Beason and the safetys get their act together. It will probably take a few games for the D to gel.
The O line will take a few games as well. We may have some red zone options that we didn't have before. The running game looks like it will open up once the scheme becomes natural. A lot is riding on the second level receivers. I'm expecting a slow start and strong finish this year. If healthy, we are not that different from the team that had high expectations last year.

I'm more excited about this year than I've ever been...I'm fucking stoked.
The Panthers are an elite team... that's right, the NFCC game in Charlotte.

You guys will be back on the wagon soon enough...

I honestly have no idea of what to expect from the Panthers this year. None. And I don't think I've ever been able to say that before.

I'm just waiting to see what does happen, I guess.

I don't care about the hype, but yeah, 8-8 was fireable last year. 8-8 in 1999 was "holy crap, we're back." Of course, excelling on a side of the ball helps. 2002 was the same way. It was hope when we needed hope.
