A Windows Mobile phone brings so much goodness...screw that iPhone, screw blackberries. I setup my wife synching mail from her work and from her personal accounts in about 15 seconds, which includes tasks, calendar appointments, mail, contacts, etc. And she can browse the web at 3g speeds, reed RSS feeds, watch videos, etc. And she does, because it's that easy - while waiting in line to see the eye doctor the first day she had it...

And because it's windows, you can mount it as a drive on your PC, copy MP3 or WAV files to it, and bam, instant free ringtones. And copy applications, which are easy to write because guess what, it's windows. And add a GPS-driven mapping program and mount it in your car, now you're driving with style. Oh, and it takes videos, has a user-replaceable battery, and everything else on that chart, + user exandable memory via mini-sd that can be externally plugged in and removed (many GB = $30). Oh, and it does Instant Messaging and many other things that iPhone doesn't.

And what does a phone like this cost? $0 - the blackjack can be had for free from many sites (with a 2-year contract, of course).

    Screw the iPhone, screw Blackberries.

I went to see an iphone today - outstanding ergonomics and usability. It's an entirely new level of goodness - no matter what Bootay says.

Display is inceredible. It begs you to handle it and use it. Video and pictures look incredible. Web browsing is awesome.

That said - I wouldn't get one even if AT/T phone signal worked good in my house, because:

You can't connect it to a laptop and use it to browse the web on your laptop. This is not a dealbreaker, though, because browsing the web on the unit itself is not inferior to using a laptop - it's that awesome.

AT/T internet is fucking slow, and the phone cannot be upgraded even if AT/T upgrades. This is the dealkiller. The AT/T thing keeps it from being useful to me, at all.

All that said - it blows away anything else on the market. Right now, no windows device comes close. They just aren't as fun to use. They may be able to do similar things - the iphone is just alot more fun. The usability of this thing totally surprised me. I played with it for about 15 minutes, and so did my 6 year old. It is worth the hype - it will change the industry.

FWIW I read this thread on it, and many other threads. I've never enjoyed browsing on a handheld - everything else will suck from now on.

It doesn't even come close to the features my Treo has. Nowhere near it. The only thing new about it is that the screen rotates and apparently not very well.

Can't wait for you to eat those words - it's just a phone, a very expensive one at that, and its not all that great as it has some serious application issues. In 2 years, if Apple is a leader in the cell phone arena I'll be SHOCKED.

Bootay and chipshot - have ya'll handled an iphone? I went to see one as a total skeptic and left very impressed. If you haven't handled one, you might ought to.

There's no words to eat - I stated an opinion that the device is impressive. It's totally impressive and a quantum leap in handheld devices.
