If it did or didn't happen, or let's say it happened and it's all Delhomme's fault - it'd be up to Henning to change that sort of thing. Either way, there has been a lot of mention from almost everyone in the organization about snap counts, and that's not typically something that just gets talked about in June, or September, or December.

Since when do Minter and Rucker constitute "almost everyone in the organization"?

don't remember calling the two of them "almost everyone in the org." Without going over what you or I define as "almost everyone", it was enough that it was one of the first things Fox mentioned about the offense in the first summer school presser. It's been brought up a number of times and in none of those instances can I imagine that the players, coaches have been asked by the media about the snap count. So either the press feels that the readership really wants to hear about the snap count, or key points in the organization have brought it up on their own while talking about the offense.

You have a link to Fox saying something about the snap count? I Googled Charlotte.com and Panthers.com and came up with nothing besides Yas. In any case, saying "there has been a lot of mention from almost everyone in the organization about snap counts" is not at all accurate.

Surely you realize that the cadence is not the snap count. The snap count is the sequence on which the ball is supposed to be snapped. The cadence is the enunciation by the quarterback. So Fox said nothing about us changing snap counts (or that being a problem in the first place), but rather the way that Jake announces at the line. He actually doesn't even say that the cadence was an issue, just that it's different in this system, which they usually are. Different OCs like different calls.

So again, Minter & Rucker (or even add Fox if you insist) does not constitute "almost everyone in the organization." That was a needless exaggeration on your part.

No one was critical of Henning in the interviews, so I don't see why they would look to criticize it or Henning. There's no reason to be critical.
Do you think it's come up a number of times "just because"?

You keep saying this about the snap count doesn't come from the sideline.

I've read the original post several times, and I have yet to see anywhere where it said that Henning, or anyone else, sent the snap count from the sideline. I may be wrong, but if I am point it out to me.

Therefore for post #2 to say "It's also weird that Yas wouldn't know that the snap count isn't called in from the sidelines with the play.", would be, in your own words "irrelevant to the discussion".

You keep trying to correct something that wasn't said.

Incorrect. Minter and Rucker weren't saying that, which is why I didn't criticize them, but Yasinskas took their words and interpreted it as follows: "In the NFL, teams generally do the same things in games that they do in practice, so it’s not much of a stretch to assume that opposing defenses were able to figure that out last season."

That was the problem, because Yasinskas made the ignorant assumption that we always/usually snapped on one in games and that it was part of Henning's philosophy. Both are errors that should have been easily avoided by someone who had watched some of our games and had general knowledge about the NFL. The Panthers didn't always/usually snap on one, as anyone can confirm by actually watching the games again, and the snap count does not come from the sideline.

Again, I realize that a lot of you naturally choose to disagree with me because you get tired of me pointing out things that you didn't know, but at least note that law1ng2b2 said the same thing before some of you got the idea to get all pissy and disagree.

    magnus:
Stop pretending that you don't know the difference between snap count and cadence. Again, as law1ng2b2 said, "Part of the cadence can be the same a lot (john elway used 'red-98' a lot), but the actual snap count is changed a lot. hell, they even call the snap count on the number or color sometimes." The cadence is generally different from system to system, thus why we'd have a new one with a new OC. Moreover, it's not like multiple people have gone on about the cadence or made a big deal about it. It got a once sentence mention from Fox, and Yas blew Rucker & Minter's words into a big deal. You are similarly exaggerating the situation solely to disagree with me because I've gotten agitated.

This is another case like the Zwick thread where a handful of people are making minor decisions and comments into a big deal because it's a slow time of year. There's really no need for it.

Varied, but just to preference. There's enough there to suggest positive change, just as with going from an archaic checkoff system to a real audible system. Again, it got brought up a lot more than would be considered necessary, especially given as how the entities were never asked about it.

You'd argue a lot better if you left this type excusing out. No, I'm not. If I wanted to jump in to piss you off, I would've done it early. My core point is that snap count and cadence do not get talked about like this, to get numerous mentions during an offseason, and that if they were going on 1 regardless of who the "blame" would go to, it's on the OC to deal with it. He's in charge of the offense. Of course, I never said "the offense is in fact always going on 1".
