Well, Yaskinskas could assume that on the basis of practice habits or he could maybe watch a game and know that it wasn't true. It's also weird that Yas wouldn't know that the snap count isn't called in from the sidelines with the play.

If Delhomme was calling every play on one, that would be bad.
That'd also be something I'd want to correct, as a coordinator.

I don't know if either case is true, though.

I thought that was strange too. hell, from the time i was 12 years old, i called the snap count in the huddle and never got it from the sidelines.

Part of the cadence can be the same a lot (john elway used 'red-98' a lot), but the actual snap count is changed a lot. hell, they even call the snap count on the number or color sometimes.

i think pat is reaching here...at a minimum. we'll see what the full story has to say tomorrow i guess.

I'm not sure that Yasinskas has ever played football at any level, even Pee Wee.

my impression, if this were true, was that it probably was Henning's philosophy that going on the same snap count eliminated mistakes and let everyone concentrate on simply their assignment rather than having to worrying about remembering the snap count ... and that those benefits outweighed any that the defense gained by guessing the snap count (and supposedly you would have plays that if they were jumping the count you would take advantage of them doing so). minter has been full of it in most preseasons so i've learned to discount anything he says, but hopefully the changes will be good and the offense takes on a new life for the sum of whatever reasons. ruck saying it though mite lead credence to it being true ... though it mite account more for our defense having a habit of jumping offsides in games than it being a root cause of the offense's failures.

Come on, we all know the defensive players made this up to justify Jenkins and Kemo jumping off sides 4 times a game. Even though they are sitting on top of the ball.

The only thing that I remember is that it seemed like we didn't snap the ball until the play clock was almost at 0 - which would obviously inhibit your aiblity to go on anything other than one or two. Of course, this was not every play though.
