maybe so...my observation wasn't from the play where Smith got hurt as I just saw the very end of it as I was talking with Meat.

But before that in the passing drills against the dbs and linebackers he was a little off. Maybe not enough to be terribly noteworthy but he did not hit them in stride very well.

he's been remarked for his good ball placement and ball control in the past, just like he's been known to be a little bit erratic in the past. Neither is at all out of control and he's had bouts of inconsistency, true.

he's evidently been poor in practice a long time. folks have been saying that since the beginning. he's good when he has time, or he has been - either one. he can be. i'm glad key's gone now. according to one article it caused some picking sides in the locker room. he can't have that kind of thing. that's not how he leads. he needs everyone w/ him 100%, and he has the ability to get them - to get everyone. i hope he's full of it again this year.

Jake has never been good in practice dating back to his Saints days as well. That's been reported in the press from day one here and in NO as well. I believe Jake even said himself that he's just not sharp in practice.

My own feeling/opinion is that the more Jake THINKS about what he's doing, the more he struggles. When he's playing with pressure and not over analyzing what he's doing, he tends to do better or seems to frequently. With him being red shirted in practice (can Smitty be too!?) I would imagine he could be doing the same thing. Plus this is likely his first throwing in a good while. Some folks need to work back into "football" more so then others.

Like you, the local media has come to expect errant throws, and apparently forgive him for it.

In all seriousness though, they didnt throw that many balls with the 4 QB's rotating in and out. The only reason JD's throw was out of the norm is because Smith almost got hurt. His throws are always high, so that wasnt unusual, the fact that Smith almost got hurt because of it is what drew my attention.

Youre right, Delhomme has a stronger arm than Carr, and is more accurate.

Of the three people that were there, all of us have said something similar regarding Delhomme.

First defense by Delhomme jock carriers: invalid because I dont like Delhomme
Second: "he isnt great in practice"
    Third: ____________________
    Fourth:___________________

tons of articles have mentioned Smith getting gimpy. Nobody but you has blamed Delhomme for anything. Which is not unusual.

You can call people "Jock carriers" all day. Doesn't make you less irrational about this.

Hm, now I'm in the pro Jake league? I just mentioned that there have been articles from before he ever started for us saying Jake doesn't play as well in practice. I get as frustrated as anyone at his stupid plays, but from what I've read, Carr has a very odd and low release and could have a lot of batted passes. What I've seen of Carr doesn't scream to me "Jake sucks and Carr is the greatest QB ever". I would imagine both have their strong points and weaknesses.
