No, what we don't get is why you linthead mill kids throw shit at another drivers car. Earnhardt would whip y'all asses for doing that.

 

We been throwing shit at drivers cars since before Jocko Flocko was racing. If you don't know who Jocko Flocko was, you need to drink a big cup of shut the fuck up.

I think that Gordon is the poster boy for what a lot of old school fans saw as the end of NASCAR that they grew up with. Here was a kid that got a top ride without working his way up the "old school" way. He wasn't a Southerner. He was "cute" and small and too polished. He was the beginning of the instant star.

Earnhardt was about as old school as they come. No money. Drove shit cars in a few races for about 4 years before he got the fulltime ride. Took that fulltime ride, which wasn't anywhere close to a "top" team and won rookie of the year and then the Cup. Went to Childress, another team that was going nowhere and made it a championship team year in and year out. Some folks view him, and most of the old school guys as earning everything they got whereas Gordon was handed the keys to the kingdom.

Gordon has proven himself to be a real racer over the years, but there is a shitload of symbolism involved in his passing Earnhardt on the career win list.
