Return man was arguably our biggest need. Do you want to see Chris Gamble back there again?

    Tough little, SOB....a Steve Smith clone....from sportingnews.com...runs a 4.49 and a 6.7 3-cone.....had 3 years where he had 1000 yards receiving.

    Ryne Robinson
    WR, Miami (OH)
    War Room analysis
Strengths: Is quick, athletic and smart. Was a productive receiver and return man in college. Runs sharp routes, sells fakes well, gets in and out of cuts quickly and shows the burst to separate. Shows no fear in traffic. Catches passes over the middle, absorbs hard hits and holds onto the ball. Is a dangerous open-field runner. Makes would-be tacklers miss, and runs through arm tackles. Shows a good burst to escape pursuers. Shows excellent hands, and adjusts nicely to bad passes and make tough catches.

Weaknesses: Lacks ideal size -- looks even smaller on film -- and could struggle to stay healthy. Gets jolted by the jams of physical defenders. Must eliminate false steps to get a better break off the snap. Lacks elite speed.

Bottom line: Robinson has many of the traits of small receivers who make it in the NFL -- hands, athleticism, toughness and competitive nature. Coaches will love his ability to take a hit. His small stature means he should not be drafted too high. He should be a good slot receiver, and his talent as a return man will draw attention late in the draft.

Its impossible to please anybody. Everybody talked about we needed a returner. Well, he is a good returner.

I like the pick. Watching Gamble back there was squeezing the life out of me last year. At least we'll have a chance to get more than a 2 yard punt return this year.

He seems like he can return kick offs too.

They say he doesnt have good speed, but 4.5 is decent as long as he's got quick feet, which it seems he does.

Do these 2 WR picks put Carter in jeopordy? I guess not as long as we carry 5 of them on the roster.

We can activate 5, so Carter is fine. Colbert is screwed, though.

I don't think so. We usually carry and activate several STs players. This guy's low ratings come from him being so small at WR. I think he could play if we go 5 wide or something, but otherwise I suspect he's purely a returner.

BTW, Smith is faster than him, but he's more quick than fast too.

A lot of returners don't have great speed. Hester did not have a great 40 time, either. You really want a guy who is decisive, can make quick moves, sound ball carrier who is willing to get hit. That's pretty much what Robinson brings to the table. It also helps that he has some upside as a receiver, instead of being an Eddie Drummond.
