How do you get such rich color? Is it the 5d, the L lenses, technique, or all of the above?

For what it's worth, I've ordered Understanding Exposure from amazon - hoping that'll help me somewhat.

which images in particular were you wondering about? it'd be easier to talk about specifics.

 

will do - I'll pic some out tonight. In the meantime, I'm assuming the nightshots were tripod mounted. How gib of a pain in the ass was it to lug a tripod around the park?

 

not a gib one at all.

we left at about 6, went to the resort and swam, then came back for fireworks, haunted house and the parade -- with the tripod. we rented a stroller, too, so that helped. i mounted the camera and got the shutter release hooked up on the bus back to the magic kingdom. actually, there was an asshole guy who tried to ruin my pics by getting in the way. on purpose.

I like the way the album is laid out on Zenfolio, how do the quality of like the prints look ?

 

haven't tried them yet. there's two services that they are affiliated with -- both used by professional photographers.

i'm going to do a few samples. i'll let you know.

how often do you use a tripod? or do you just have steady hands?


I know most of my bad takes are from camera shake and I need to use a tripod more often. Does an IS lens help that much?

 

I know I would be even more lost without my IS lens. Perhaps you can make up for the benefit of IS with technique, but I havent developed that technique yet.

 

i only used the tripod on the fireworks shots.

shooting weddings helped me develop some good techniques -- suck as locking in my elbows.

IS lenses can help you save a few stops. i don't use them, though. for me, it's not worth the money.
