I agree. I want Jake to do well, but if he starts sucking, we can try Carr. Carr did play for a bad team, he'll be a hell of a lot better than Weinke. Hell I'd take Harrington or Carr, preferably Carr, but either would at least be a decent backup. I'd love to see Carr here.

Staubach/Clint Longley...no there was a QB contraversy! Longley used more Jerry curl than the brothers!

bringing Carr here guarantees Delhommes departure. Carr will not be a backup long and we already have people on this board starting him over Delhomme. If the Panther's bring in Carr, then Delhomme's days are numbered. I doubt he makes it through the season.

I would prefer to have Delhomme with a capible backup or Carr and not Delhomme. I don't think we could have both with out alot of QB controversy and we don't need that right now.

You do realize that Carr just got cut don't you? I would love to have him as a back up and he would be a major improvement over Weinke, but to say he'll come here and take over is a big reach IMO.

You'd like to think that if that did, in fact, happen, it would be because Carr beat Delhomme outright for the job.

Don't know that I see that happening, first off, despite the mistakes.

Second, if it did, while Carr hasn't made the plays I figured he would (I had him as a bit stronger armed, and more able to read, and well above harrington but neither I had that close to #1 overall - too many QBs get rated #1 overall despite being nowhere near the talent to beat out guys like Peppers, Jammer, McKinnie, Henderson, Roy Williams), he's a good QB, and if he were to beat out Delhomme, that's fine. If he takes a reasonable contract.

Trying to pay him what we gave Delhomme? No. What he got in Houston one year ago? No. If you get past that, you have a guy with four years less age and one more year of starting experience. And if he did beat out Delhomme fair and square, that'd mean he'd dropped his own issues here - holding the ball, slow to release, slow to read.

A lot of 'if's' there, but if that happened, we're in good shape with him.

bringing in Carr would be a good move IMHO. I don't want the team in the same position it found itself in when Beuerlein was determined to be too old/expensive. Not saying it'll be next year or the year after, but eventually Delhomme is going to know what it feels like to be in Beuerlein's shoes. All players eventually do regardless of position.

It's possible but not likely IMO. Jake is the leader of this offense...Fox has said it and his teammates have said it. He will really have to stink it up to lose his job, especially if they get the running game back on track.

Hey, I'm all for competition though, and if Carr outplays him, then so be it. I want to see the best players on the field.

Being 32, Delhomme isn't old. We wouldn't keep Carr for 4 years waiting on him.
