I still think Adam Seward could be a starter in this league. When he started/played MLB last year in those first couple of games it was recognition skills and being out of position in the passing game that caused us to yank him for draft. Hopefully, he understands the NFL games a lot more now.

I still contend he has the physical skills, size, and speed (4.5) to be pretty decent. He's a really good tackler too. I hope he get a chance again to compete when Morgan goes down.

well, he played until Draft could move back over. He kinda sucked, but he was good in preseason. It's something I just don't get.

But I feel and have felt he's better outside. The team had him weakside some his first year before getting hurt (played there v/s NE a couple snaps) and strongside may be his best pro position.

Unfortunately he didn't play much last year after Draft and Diggs were healthy.

obviously their are other options, I just figured that listing those three showed my point that it looks like we're going to draft Morgan's eventual replacement rather then sign a veteran.

Having looked at who's left in FA at MLB, we're better off doing it that way.

kinda my thoughts too (course i've been fooled once or twice by young seemingly promising players ;) ) though i thought it nonsense those who were saying last preseason that they didn't see much drop off between him and a healthy Morgan. still, i like him at MLB moreso than elsewhere but i'd rather have much better if the draft offers it. i think i'd be pretty happy with a Willis selection.

new WP? didn't you already post and discuss this dreary thought? are we beginning to harp on it?

Unless I missed it Draft has not signed anywhere yet. We may still bring him back.

He's going to be looking for more money than he's likely to get...so he could be available later at a reasonable price.

That is what I am thinking. He may sign a big deal today with some desperate team but if that does not happen maybe we can bring him back. That would fill a need and get us closer to being able to take the BPA.

He played better middle than weakside, and I'm sure part of the attraction with the way we did it is that we would have to go get a dedicated MLB to back Morgan, but I'd have rather spent on Draft to be the weakside than Diggs.

Diggs is as good, maybe better, as a run stopper, but he's just not much of a weakside player. He's not especially good in coverage, or blitzing. Draft's not especially good about gap integrity but still stops the run well, has a little more range, still isn't great in coverage, but blitzes well. If we're talking stopgap v/s stopgap, I found more value in Draft.

Which is what has him testing the waters, IMO. He's proven he can play inside/outside and is hoping a team will spend for his services. If not, I can see him coming here for a suitable contract unless someone drops a big check on him. I'd like to think if given the choice between being a Panther at 1.2 mill or being on team X for the same amount or slightly more, he'd take the Panthers offer.
