Panthers-Harrington marriage will have to wait
If Joey Harrington is going to be in the mix for the backup quarterback job with the Panthers, it probably won’t happen right away.

The Panthers have had at least an exploratory conversation with one of Harrington’s agents. But Harrington has other things on his mind in the next few days.

He’s getting married in Oregon on Saturday. Don’t know how long that’s going to keep him out of pocket. But it’s a safe bet the Panthers would want to meet with him face-to-face if they are serious about him, even though they did their homework on him when he was coming out in the 2002 draft (when the Panthers selected Julius Peppers) and there’s plenty of game film available from Harrington’s days in Detroit and Miami.

It’s unclear how much of a rush the Panthers are in to fill this position. But they met with former Oakland quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo on Wednesday. He left town without a contract, and it’s unclear if the Panthers made an offer.

And Harrington doesn't do anything for me. He's had several chances to prove himself. I'd actually rather have Tui, but would prefer neither. I wish we would have gone after Patrick Ramsey, but its looking more and more like a first day pick for a QB.

I still can't believe we almost beat the eventual World Champions with a QB posting a 0 rating. That was a sick defense we had.

I'd rather have Harrington. He has done a lot more than Tui, and he's better suited in our offense.

You're just not going to get much at this point.

Harrington would suit me fine as a back up to Jake. He is better than Winky and Tui.

Harrington is not that much better than Winky. Tui is either as bad as Winky or maybe a lot better. He's only had 2 starts, and granted he didn't look great in them. Harrington has had several seasons of starting and couldn't even stay in Miami. I would actually rather have a rookie than either of these 2. I need to remind myself that these are back up QB's though. Another person I would have rather had was Brad Johnson.
