Viewsonic LCD attached to my video card via digital output.

Worked fine for about a year. Now, I'll be sitting there looking at the monitor and it dims, then the screen goes black. The green power light never turns orange like it would if there were no signal from the computer. I've tried analog connection too. Same thing. Is this the monitor or could it be the video card?

Monitor. If it were the vid card the light would've went orange because the monitor wasn't recieving any signal from the vid card.

Thanks. That's what I figured too. Guess I'll be shopping for a monitor soon. Got any deals?

I got a 17 now. Prefer not to go over $200. A 19 would be nice, but you know....

If your monitor has two input channels, it might be that you've directed the input to the other channel - the one not connected to your computer. Might be worth a look. Should be a button on the front of the monitor.

That would change the light to amber. Because there would be no connection to a powered vid card on the other channel.

Some of these dumb user-types don't tell you the whole story, so I thought I'd be thorough.

Yeah, I checked that the setting was digital or analog depending on the source.
