I think he's a fine player, the little I've seen of him, I just don't think our problem at RG is a lack of youth. If anything, I'd rather there be a cheap veteran, if that player isn't Bridges already, but I certainly don't want Fordham back.
I'd almost as well have a place we could add youth along the line, but I don't believe we will at this point.

I don't think youth is a thing you can have too much of, especially when most of it is experienced. Mathis has had multiple years in the system and Montgomery should be well versed as well. Some more starting experience could be useful, but you generally don't see many problems with rookie guards.

    shoulda made a thread.

    Assuming we get Draft back:

    14. Quentin Moses
Just as an exercise outside the normal four or five names that get put out here, Moses is good whether Rucker's back on time or not. He needs to add weight, but I'm guessing he does come in at 260 by combine and still looks athletic. Granted this is on the assumption we do want Peppers at LDE still, but I'm fine with either spot. Moses right now isn't often swapped with Adams for #1 DE, but he's never listed far behind and is a legit top 20 guy.

    46. Michael Griffin
I could see him getting down this far IF he doesn't run that fast. If Nelson's in, and he and Landry head up the safeties, Griffin falls as teams look for other guys of that nature. The thing is, though, you don't have to be a FS to go high anymore. Griffin's a good zone safety and a good playmaker overall. He's not an elite cover man, but he's good in zone and adept at everything an above average SS pulls off.

    78. Desmond Bishop
A good, fairly strong inside linebacker, with enough range to the sideline and run coverage. Fairly good at stuffing ISO runs, good instincts, don't have a good feel for how he gets off blocks yet. Decent blitzer, average for a MLB in coverage, probably a two-down ILB.

It goes too deep defensively, but there's not a ton we'll do on offense other than maybe a 4th WR/RS, backup OT (didn't see one I liked), or a pity draft for a QB. I've given up hope of the TE issue, we don't need any starters for next year, and chances are whatever we would need we'd buy.

I don't find youth a problem, I just don't think another mid-rounds guard will solve the problem necessarily. It's not a bad pick, I just don't think that's where I'd go.

well since it only goes to 97 you could write in literally anyone. Randomly, Chansi Stuckey of Clemson or Michigan's Steve Breaston

I'm not a big fan of Moses. He still seems to be living off the reputation he gained while playing opposite Pollack.

I believe he's got a near-lethal first step, and a lot of people have been looking to see a guy that takes more outside moves than Rucker. He certainly won't be the same type player Rucker is, but I think we can fix his problems with run leverage and he can certainly bulk up easily.

    2007 NFL Draft order

NEW YORK -- Following is the tentative order of the 2007 draft, subject to the results of the playoffs.

Priority of playoff clubs within a tied segment is based on their advancement in the playoffs, but they do not drop out of their tied segment unless they participate in the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl champion will select 32nd and the runner-up 31st.

The tie between Cleveland and Tampa Bay for the third and fourth positions will be broken by a coin flip.

Clubs involved in two-club ties will alternate positions from round-to-round. In ties that involve three or more clubs, the club at the top of a tied segment in a given round will move to the bottom of the segment for the next round, while all other clubs in the segment move up one position. This rotation continues throughout the draft.

I didn't see that much out of him this season, and his production was certainly well short of expectations. A sack specialist who didn't get sacks (only 3) doesn't sound like a solid first round selection.
