He is a beast. Just think if he could get those pads down a little.

maybe better, maybe not. There are thoughts that he'd be better in space, but I don't believe that the team believes that weakside is the only way to get someone to make plays or be in space - see Thomas Davis. Plus, he does play the run very well - that wouldn't be wasted weakside, no.

maybe, maybe not. For four seasons, Wallace has barely notched playing time. So rucker's been effective. In theory, I'd like Rucker to be able to just power past OTs, but we've never done a ton of that. Even Peppers looked, most times, to play some contain instead of flat out rush. And let's not forget, last year Peppers only had 3 more sacks and 4 more hurries than Rucker.

Might just be numbers. It's kinda odd, to me, since Rasmussen played all 4 years. Or he's mistake-prone.

You might be right, but................it might help him if he at least looked for the ball! Hell, Gamble was in a better position to catch the ball more than Johnson was. As Clay said, how do you explain Gamble slowing down when he gets along side Johnson. That play, among others, flat out cost the Panthers the game. And what about Lucas missing the sure interception that goes through his hands near the Bengals end zone!
I could go on and on, but it would only piss me off more. Now that the Cowboys stunk up the place last night, they'll be hungrier than if they won. Should be a good game, which the Panthers have to win, if they won't to stay in the playoff hunt.

I read where the wind was affecting stuff to the degree that the ball had to be thrown OB and allowed to drift back to the field.

Now that I think about it I wonder if Gamble looked up and figured it was OB. Still no excuse for not playing the ball but maybe an overlooked factor.

At the time, I did wonder if the wind affected Jake's overthrows of Colbert and Carter.

Regardless of whether Peppers lines up on the weakside or the strongside I wish we would turn him loose to pass rush more often. Seems like when we drop him in coverage we get very little pressure. I remember Kevin Greene just bull rushing every down. I wonder how much havoc Peppers would cause if turned loose that way. It is pretty awesome to see a LDE run down a back on the opposite side of the field but we really should not need him to do that.

It was. I made a fairly big deal about it during the preseason, in fact, as he had several good blocks including a key one that sprang Hill for a big return.

    Ide:
Minter + Williams + Branch = 3. I don't think we even consider McAdam a safety given our roster moves during Williams' absence. He's strictly a special teams player, only like Hankton, he's not very good at that either.

    hasbeen99:
Moving Peppers would make absolutely no sense. You would be switching him to the side of the arguably better tackle and placing a weaker player at the point of attack against the offense's preferred run side. Rucker reads and sheds well, but Peppers is considerably stronger and has done an excellent job of holding that edge for us this season.

    HeadCase:
DeAngelo is of roughly the same measureables and build as Emmitt Smith. If you've seen his legs then you know he has plenty of power for short yardage situations and he has certainly shown the ability to break tackles. For that matter, Foster has too. The problem is that our offensive line is weak and has bad technique, meaning they get stoned anytime they face more than a base defense. And fyi, Alstott is actually not a very good short yardage runner. Notice how he constantly leaps over the pile instead of trying to bowl over a defender. It's because he needs momentum to be effective like that.

I want to steal Brandon Jacobs from the giants and utilize DeAngelo (once he's back) more in the passing game (ala Tiki Barber). I also want Jake to QB more like Eli and our LBs and Safeties to play more like theirs, and . . .

shit maybe I should just follow the Giants again . . . :newsmile61:

Nah! I wouldn't be able to stand it watching my team put an opponent away before the fourth quarter, or win by more than one score . . . . :bitecurb:

it'd be fun to have a guy like Jacobs, and I liked him coming out, but we have backs for a while. I'd like to see DW get more rushes right now, and let Foster be the third down guy and take some of the run carries, since Foster's one stutter away from breaking some runs.
