CB Reggie Howard has been placed on the reserve-left squad list, and isn't with the team.

Panthers coach John Fox would not elaborate on Howard's reasons.

The team gets an immediate roster exemption, and this late in the week, don't be surprised if they promote CB Christian Morton from the practice squad.

so who will we add to take his place?

Carolina Panthers cornerback Reggie Howard has left the team for personal reasons, coach John Fox said following today’s practice.

"We’ll get a roster exemption; we’ve got some options we’ve not decided on at this point,” Fox said. “He left the squad due to personal reasons.”

Asked if there was any chance of Howard returning this season, Fox said, “There’s always the possibility. The way the league handles that, we do get the roster exemption immediately, but that could change in the future.”

Fox said Howard’s move was “somewhat” unexpected, but added that he wouldn’t go into detail.

Howard, a former starter with Carolina, had seen limited action this season, playing primarily on special teams. He had one tackle as a corner.

if Jarrett Bush is on a practice squad, we could sign him to the roster i believe...dont know how likely that is though

Troy Vincent would have been a nice addition.....

this is another place Jarrett Bush could've come in handy, but I don't think you could ever forsee anything like this coming. Certainly, we'll be in the market for a corner ASAP, 3 is ridiculously poor depth.

Bush is on the active roster with the Packers.

Troy Vincent hasn't been that great a cover corner since the rules changes in 03. He wasn't even that incredible a safety since, but FWIW, we still could've used him.

There's always Christian Morton from the practice squad.
There's Steelers PS corner Jovon Johnson, who despite his relative shortness is still a guy who can be effective in zone.
THere's Broncos PS corner Jeff Shoate, who played as a reserve in 04 and spent 05 on IR.
Seahawks have Gerard Ross, a rook from FSU, on their PS. He's got some size.

On a serious note, we're not losing much. Very odd though.
