No, Minter and Marshall were the ones who screwed up. Branch only screwed up if you think he should have ignored the ball and made sure he got the tackle instead of trying to tip the pass away, which he almost did.

Branch had coverage, so to me both the completion and the tackle were things he screwed up. Plus, you're a safety. Deeper than the deepest man.

Nope, not on that play. You know as well as I do that being safety doesn't always mean you have the deepest coverage, especially in our 3 deep defense where one safety is usually intermediate. Minter had deep coverage over the top and overran it.

so even though Branch was right there, that was Minter's coverage?

You said he was supposed to be deeper, which was wrong. That was my point. Branch still should have made sure he had the tackle and not gone for the ball, but yeah, ultimately the TD was Minter's fault.

actually, I don't know for certain whether he was supposed to be deeper. I assume he was, but not knowing his responsibility, I'm just guessing. To me, he was out of position. Either way, he picked up his man in zone, which makes it his coverage. If Minter was coming over, then it was his coverage, too. Branch was the one who was right there, however.

 Dude, I'm telling you that he wasn't. I've only watched the play like 25 times. Branch had underneath coverage and actually was right on Colston, Brees just threaded the needle.

so you're telling me he was right there, he had a chance to make the play, but that wasn't his coverage? That doesn't make sense. If he was in zone, and picked up Colston, that's his man. And if he was there to make the play and didn't, that's on him. It doesn't matter what Minter was doing, if Branch is there. That Minter screwed up, too? Yes.

You said he was supposed to be "Deeper than the deepest man." That was wrong because that wasn't his assignment on the play so just fucking let it go. I don't know why you're always such a dickhead about stuff like this.

Branch is the one just trailing Colston because he had the intermediate zone. It's hard to see because the picture quality is bad, but he's reaching to knock away the ball and just misses it. Minter is the one behind them in the middle who is scrambling back because he completely overran a play that should have been easy to read, and then Richard Marshall is the one behind them on the right who also overruns the play. Christ, this should not be difficult to understand, you just insist on being an ass as usual.
