run a lot of 2 TE formations, if we kept 3 then we'd been down to 2 today...i think the 4th TE was over the 3rd QB

TEs get on linebackers all the time. And your average OLB is faster than your average TE.

Mangum and Gaines, while inconsistent, are talented enough. King has a little short range burst that neither have.

Harper's emergence in '93 and '94 coincided with a steep decline in Novachek's numbers.

You can point to Alvin Harper, Irvin and Novacheck, but I agree with Collins point.
    Kansas City: Gonzo & who...

yeah. You don't turn down a good TE, but in the end one that can pass block well and run block allright is what we're after. I wish we actually had a better run blocker there, but that's usually the type guy who isn't the good pass blocker.

I can't think of anyone that has both two above average WR and one above average TE other than Dallas right now, and they did draft Fasano to somewhat replace him. When you have two good receivers, of either sort, you tend to stop spending the money on that problem because you have other problems.

I don't think Harper as much as Johnson contributed to that drop. Moose stepped up in total touches then.

You need 4 TE's in case one gets his face stomped.

Harper was only as good as Irvin, as shown when he hit the FA market.

Math, Harper went to Tampa. Jerry Rice would have sucked on those Bucs teams.
