There have actually only been 10-15 guys who have ever scored under 10, so yes, Gamble's score was historically bad. Peterson was a 5, but the lists I looked at never had anyone below that. There were a handful of 6s, but 9 was very near the bottom of the list. Marino was a 15, by the way.

historically? No, I don't find that to be true. Bottom 20% of possible scores? Yeah. Probably bottom 5% of actual scores. Not at all historical and unrelated to the move.

"The average score for a player at the combine is 19. The average score overall — hundreds of corporations use the Wonderlic — is 21. But a score under 10 is an indication of literacy problems."

I wonder what Shelton's score was. He seems to fall into the "literacy problem" category.

good thing nfl playbooks are mostly pictures, or there'd be a whole lot more confusion across the league.

I knew about his score, but was implying he neither had the balls nor the stupidity to do that.

That said, based on his judgement at that moment he ranks alongside the likes of Aaron Brooks and Roy Riegals for dumbassed plays on a football field. Which is totally beyond Wonderlic.

that's not "historically". It was low. That's all there was. No record breaking, no earth shattering. Just low. And not relevant.

*sigh* As I noted before, there haven't been all that many guys who have scored below a 9 in the history of the combine. It's not just low, it's really bad. And no, it doesn't keep him from being a good player, since Peterson and Gore certainly seem to be doing well, but it's discouraging nonetheless.

I also wonder what Fox's Wonderlic score was.

Yes, I know coaches don't take them.

I was thinking that too, but decided it would have been pretty good. Which calls that test into question, because "smart" people do some stupid shit sometimes.
