Kines says of the 4th and 19

"We had momentum going and we were really playing good,'' Kines said when asked about the play. "We had been playing man (coverage) and went to a zone and let the ball get back across the field.

"It (the zone) had been good the series before. We got a sack off it, and got good pressure because he had to hold the ball. He (Clausen) actually moved out of the pocket, bought some time and threw the ball down the field."

I'm actually with you guys, that play doesn't work IMO vs man coverage. Vs a quarter zone, we just flodded that area with post routes and drove the DBs to the goal line, and then drug Fayton "underneath" (sounds like a contradiction in terms for a 25 yard route).

Play off man, with safties free. You give up the short routes, but you don't allow a guy to go unaccounted for. Make them beat you, not beat the scheme.

And the series before, Kines, the zone allowed a touchdown.

    All apologies.

"That wasn't any prevent (defense),'' Kines said. "We were coming and getting him. There wasn't a single three-man rush. There wasn't any zone, which was probably dumb on our part looking back. If it works, it's great.

"We just answered one question why the zone was bad and now 'Why's the man bad'? It's bad because it don't work"
