But in Miami, you can't sling a dead cat without hitting 10 pro prospects.

That's true, but most of the kids down there were born after the glory days, so their loyalty is usually to other programs. A good recruiter will get their share of the talent, but it's not like it used to be where the coach would just show up and point at who he wanted and they'd commit to him on the spot. And I really can't emphasize enough how shitty the facilities are.

What's his name on ESPN's College Game Day said Butch Davis would be an excellent choice for Miami. Yes, I know, it's a very long shot considering Miami has cleaned up its program now. No need to fall back to lawless ways.

There are a lot of fans that would take Butch back in a heartbeat. Shalala wouldn't go for it in a million years, and I haven't heard of anyone that would be willing to try to stand up to her over him, so I'd say the odds of him being coach are pretty slim.

Miami apparently has it down to Randy Edsall, Al Golden, and Marc Trestman.

Never heard of the first two and Trestman would be a bad hire.

Edsall is the head coach at UConn, Golden is at Temple. Of the two, I'd prefer Golden. Trestman wouldn't be a horrible hire, but certainly not a great one either. He's got his connection to Bernie Kosar, which is probably why his name is still on the list in the first place.

    Gotcha.

Those names/programs don't jump out to me as a big time hire.

UF did a much better job, at least on paper it looks like it.

It's officially Golden now. Not a huge name high profile guy, but not a horrible mistake either.

Looks like Miami got Golden. I think Vandy got a good coach too in Malzahn.
